Cuts Hit WLS-AM

Sam Zell isn’t the only one in Chicago using that chopping block. On Friday a number of WLS-AM staffers lost their jobs. Causalities of the cuts included newsroom veterans Bill Cameron and Jennifer Keiper. Read the story here.

WLS-AM owner, Citadel Broadcasting, had reported a “wider quarterly loss” earlier Friday. Reuters said Citadel was “hurt by asset impairment and disposal charges, even as revenue more than doubled on an acquisition it made last year.”

You may recall Citadel acquired ABC Radio in June of 2007 from the Walt Disney Company. Citadel which owns 223 stations also brought Don Imus back to radio last fall.

The New York Daily News also reported other Citadel cuts around the country. Read the Daily News story here.
